CHURCH CALLS REV. SUSAN KARLSON
AS SETTLED MINISTER
At a Congregational Meeting after the Sunday May 4 service, the Congregation voted to call Rev. Susan Karlson as our new Settled Minister. A champagne toast followed in the Parish Hall. Susan and her husband have now returned to Wilminton andGulfport, and will be moving into the parsonage on or around August 15th.

Brief bio of Rev Karlson
Rev. Susan Karlson currently serves as the Consulting Minister for the Gulf Coast Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (GCUUF) in Gulfport, Mississippi. Last year, the Metro New York District Chalice Lighter program supported GCUUF and that Chalice Lighter grant helped bring Susan to Mississippi this year. Prior to ministry on the Gulf Coast, Susan served as the minister of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Wilmington in Wilmington, NC. She still resides half time in Wilmington with her husband, Alan Kindler, commuting to Mississippi the other half of each month. In Wilmington she serves as the Co-Chair of the Ministerial Roundtable, an interracial and interfaith clergy group whose purpose is to heal the wounds of racial injustice in the congregations, communities and personal lives of the clergy members. Susan also serves on the Board of Directors for the African American Heritage Foundation in Wilmington. She received her Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. in 2003 and Final Fellowship as a Unitarian Universalist minister in 2006. Susan has a Master of Social Work degree and retains her license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia where she worked with children, adults and families recovering from child sexual abuse. She had a previous calling to ministry as an ordained minister of yoga.
